BALLYMUN JOB CENTRE IS CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE POSITION OF
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Co-operative Society Ltd. (BJC) is a local community focused, people
centred, placement, career guidance and training organisation. Based
on a culture of excellence and innovation, the BJC provides a range of
services and programmes supported by local, national and European
organisations.

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE ARE TO:

Assist in developing and submitting of funding applications supported
by evidence from the research and the work of the BJC and to increase
the BJC?s participation in EU and other funding programmes. Work
with staff to implement projects and programmes. Provide advice and
guidance to the organisation in the preparation and research that the
BJC may wish to undertake and carry out the research. Build
relationships with various stakeholders to highlight the work of the
BJC and the positive lessons coming from the various projects.
Advocate for policy change that will support the work of the BJC and
have a positive socio-economic impact on the community.

APPLYING FOR NEW PROJECTS AND RESEARCH - Identify, monitor and
evaluate policy issues and formulate policy responses to develop
information resources and new policy positions. Undertake projects to
explore policy issues and support the BJC staff in assessing
particular EU and other funding calls and provide advice on the
presentation and content of proposals for applications for new
projects.

COMMUNICATION/DISSEMINATION - Explain BJC?s policy positions to a
range of audiences by preparing submissions for government and other
audiences and drafting policy position papers, blogs and reports.
Develop and maintain contacts with local, national and EU
organisations, employers, policy institutes, civil servants and
government. Engage stakeholders through social media, newsletters and
by organising workshops and other events. Establish and maintain
communications with national, EU network and other groupings to
increase knowledge of EU opportunities and to promote the BJC research
strengths and interests. Source, review and disseminate published and
unpublished information on EU research funding opportunities and
maintain specialist knowledge of current and future EU policies to
inform future project application planning.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - A primary or master?s degree or
equivalent in social policy or research. The ideal candidate should
have an interest in the policy context for learning, skills and
development and should bring strong knowledge and experience of a
range of social research methods. They should also have working
knowledge of the adult, VET and community education and training
sector and employment services in Ireland and have experience
delivering first class written reports and applications.

THE CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: A
self-starter, comfortable working without significant direction, they
should have the ability to work on a range of activities
simultaneously and should have strong written, oral and communication
skills. A good team player with enthusiasm, drive, friendliness and
approachability and a high level of professional responsibility and
integrity. Precise methodological approach with effective project
management, organisational and administrative skills.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT - This is a **Apply on the website** hour per

per annum is on offer. The nature of the work may require working
unsocial hours i.e. evenings and weekends plus EU travel.
